Stuart Cooley

City of Santa Monica

2006

AEE So Cal

Energy Engineer of the Year

  • Instrumental in leading the effort to “green” Santa Monica and move the City closer to the concept of a net-zero electric city
  • Stuart recently spoke at AEE’s annual seminar a few weeks ago and gave an outstanding overview of the energy efficiency and renewable energy efforts underway in Santa Monica.
  • Stuart was an earlier initiator of the City’s effort by applying and receiving a Million Solar Roofs Grant from the DOE in 2002.  This led to a comprehensive solar potential study which estimated the total solar electric generating potential in the city.  Stuart provided an overview of this work at the recent seminar and was quite fascinating.  You can find this on AEE’s website
  • Bachelors from U of Maryland College Park
  • Masters in Mech Eng from U of Hawaii-Manoa
    • One of the first to grad w/ Cert in Renewable Energy Engineering
